RODE NT1-A Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone

Overview

The RODE NT1-A is a large-diaphragm cardioid condenser mic that has become an affordable industry standard, serving up a huge dynamic range from 20Hz to 20kHz, a high SPL handling of 137dB, and warm, rich tone. A low self-noise level of a mere 5dBA makes it one of the quieter microphones on the market today, making it the perfect mic for virtually any recording situation, like vocals, guitar, and percussion.

No bell's and whistles. This mic does one thing, but it does it well. This is the lowest noise mic I've ever used. The frequency response has a bit of a presence boost, but it's not too much, and sounds great on most uses. I just bought a second for drum overheads.

This microphone is one of the best to have in a home studio. This can be used on basically everything, and it sound great on everything. I use it for drums, guitars, and vocals. It works great on everything!

These baby's are so quiet and there's a warmth in them that should cost way more. I did a blind test on a harp with one of these and a mic costing twice the amount (a Lewitt) and the artist preferred the sound of the Rode. It's become my go to for small vocal jobs and instrument micing.
