Overview

The general offset template with one (H14) or two (H15) DeArmond gold foil pickups made by Harmony was first called the Silhouette model from its debut in 1963 until 1968, when it was renamed the Bobkat. This model was also sold under the Silvertone badge (Model 1477) in Sears department stores. A vibrato tailpiece was optional (H17, H15V). These models have surged in popularity recently due to Annie Clark of St. Vincent touring and recording with a Harmony H15 Bobkat. These smaller offset beasts remain some of the best player-grade vintage deals around.

Fawn memories as I played the guitar. Sound from the DeArmond pickups were as I remembered 30yrs ago simply amazing. Plenty of bite through a half stack Marshall JVMs. Action is smooth and intonation was set playing for 3 hours straight without going out of tune. Cons: Nothing bad about this guitar!!

Takes me back to my teen-age years. Nice gold foil sounds! No significant tuning issues.

This guitar is older than me and still sounds fantastic. Perfect guitar for slide and blues. Single pickup with 2-way switch is all you need. Needed a little TLC but so do I most days. Do not pass up the opportunity to grab one of these if you can.

  • Great little guitar!

Super lightweight, short scale is sweet. Awesome sounding if you can get one with a straight neck. But, PLEASE people, stop buying and selling them for over $500! These are groovy, but not THAT great. These really should not be selling for more than $400 IMHO.
