Modeled after the Les Paul Classic, which was in turn based off of the 1960 Les Paul, the Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus was manufactured from 1990 to 1998, and then from 2001 to 2008. The Classic Plus, like the Classic, features two exposed humbucking pickups, but there aren't man differences between the Classic and the Plus; Plus typically designates the presence of a flamed maple top.

I own a Les Paul Classic and a Les Paul Classic Plus. Both are great guitar but the Classic Plus just feels better all around. Mine had upgraded Seymour Duncan pickups when I got it, which sound awesome, but I don't know how the originals sound. It's looks and plays just like a Standard for less money!
