Video: Playing a Rare Rickenbacker 4080 Double Neck | Funky Vintage

Our latest episode of Funky Vintage features one of the funkiest pieces of gear we've checked out yet. In the video above, Joe Shadid is checking out a super rare Rickenbacker 4080 Double Neck.

The Rickenbacker 4080 Double Neck features the beloved 4001 Rickenbacker bass on top with a 4080 guitar on the bottom and was produced for a short stint starting in 1975 and ending in 1986.

There were a few different configurations of this double neck, including one with a 12-string guitar in place of this one's six-string.

Notable players of this very progressive rock-coded instrument include Rush's Geddy Lee and Mike Rutherford from Genesis. Check out the full video above to hear how it sounds in action.
