While Boss is most famous for its effects, it has also been producing a very solid line of amp modelers with its GT series. Boss recently combined these pursuits into one device that is as much a multi–effect unit as it is a gig–ready amp, the Katana Amp Head. With us at Reverb eager for a test drive, Austin from Boss dropped by the studio to demo the amp and outline its many features for us.
The amp features five different amp characters — acoustic, clean, crunch, lead, and brown — and provides access to 55 Boss pedal emulations through Boss's Tone Studio so you can leave your pedalboard at home. As Austin demonstrates, you can load up to fifteen effects onto the amp at once (with the ability to use three simultaneously) to dial in exactly the sound you're looking for.
