Up for sale is a 1985 Squier by Fender SST-30 Stratocaster made in Japan.

Built by Fujigen during the early years of Fender Japan production, these mid-1980s Japanese Squiers have developed an excellent reputation for their quality craftsmanship, comfortable necks, and classic Stratocaster sound. While originally introduced as an affordable model, these early Japanese-built instruments have become increasingly sought after by players and collectors alike.

We recently cleaned, restrung, and professionally set the guitar up here at the shop. It plays wonderfully with comfortable, low action and has plenty of life left in the frets.

During our setup we removed the neck and confirmed a factory neck heel date of April 24, 1985 along with the original SST-30 model stamp. Interestingly, no visible serial number remains on the instrument. It was likely originally located on a neck plate or decal that has since been replaced or worn away, but the factory markings clearly identify the guitar as an authentic mid-1985 Japanese-built example.

Cosmetically, the guitar shows honest vintage wear throughout from over forty years of use. There are numerous small dings, scratches, finish marks, scattered paint specks, and general aging across the body and neck, giving it the well-loved character many players appreciate in an older instrument. The hardware also shows natural oxidation and patina consistent with its age. Nothing we observed affects the guitar's playability or functionality.

If you're looking for a genuine mid-'80s Fujigen-built Stratocaster with decades of character, excellent playability, and the quality that made early Fender Japan instruments so respected, this SST-30 is an excellent choice.

Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description, and feel free to reach out with any questions.
