This is a genuine Gibson F-5 Master Model, produced at the legendary Kalamazoo, Michigan facility in 1974. Serial number 128-760, with the original internal tone approval label signed by Gibson President Stan Rendell on April 16, 1974 — a meaningful piece of Gibson history right inside the instrument.
The mandolin features the classic Florentine body with two points and scroll, carved spruce top, figured maple back and sides, ebony fingerboard with elaborate mother-of-pearl floral inlays reproduced from early Gibson F-style patterns, gold-plated open-back tuners with pearloid buttons, and the original "The Gibson" engraved tailpiece cover.
Every great instrument has a life story, and this one is no exception. At some point in its journey, the peghead experienced a break at the volute area — a repair that was carried out and has held solid ever since. A small section of bass-side fingerboard binding between the 9th and 11th frets has been replaced. These are the marks of a instrument that has been played, loved, and cared for,not hidden away.
Comes with the original period-correct hardshell case with black Tolex exterior and purple plush interior.
