The Philosopher's Rock is an analog, optical compressor, sustainer and distortion designed for transparent compression, sustain and vintage overdrive (when GRIT is used). The Treble and Blend functions from the original Philosopher's Tone are preset to their "sweet spots" for simplicity of use.
Controls are:
VOLUME - sets the overall output level
SUSTAIN - sets the compression threshold (the point at which compression engages)
GRIT - adds harmonic distortion, featuring germanium diode clipping
The factory 18 volt DC power supply is included. The pedal will also work with 9 volt DC power supplies but with less headroom and overall output (not included).
