The Ultimate Green Drive, Intelligently Evolved

The Origin Effects Halcyon Green Overdrive Pedal takes the architectural blueprint of the world’s most copied low-gain drive pedal and redesigns it from the ground up for the discerning modern player. Based directly on the iconic Ibanez® TS808 Tube Screamer®, this 100% all-analogue circuit perfectly captures the classic mid-forward push, soft-clipping drive, and subtle clean-blend definition that has defined legendary guitar tones for decades. Yet, the Halcyon Green goes far beyond conventional boutique clones by eliminating the operational limitations of vintage hardware, introducing unparalleled touch-sensitivity and dynamic versatility to your pedalboard.

Proprietary Adaptive Circuitry: No More "All-or-Nothing" Tone

The defining superpower of a vintage 808 circuit is its signature mid-hump, which rolls off low-end mud and harsh highs to push your guitar right to the front of a dense live mix. However, standard green overdrives lock you into this specific EQ curve regardless of how hard you play. When you roll your guitar’s volume knob back or soften your pick attack to clean up your tone, that mid-pushed drive turns into a thin, boxy, nasal clean tone.

Origin Effects solves this decades-old issue with their groundbreaking, proprietary ADAPT switch. When engaged, the pedal's mid-forward voicing gradually fades out as your signal drops below the clipping threshold, seamlessly reintroducing the full, uncolored spectrum of your guitar’s natural bass and treble frequencies. Crank your volume knob, and you get the glorious, singing mid-hump crunch of a perfect vintage TS808. Back it off, and you instantly unlock a wide-open, pristine clean boost that responds exactly like a high-end, touch-sensitive valve amplifier.

Advanced Textural Tweaking & High-Gain Tightening

The Halcyon Green provides advanced control elements that elevate it far past stock vintage enclosures. A dedicated, variable DRY level control lets you dial in the exact balance of your clean instrument signal. Turn the DRY control down to create a smooth, highly natural standalone drive through a pristine clean amp platform, or crank it up to inject massive note definition, attack articulation, and low-end authority when pushing a cooking tube amplifier into natural saturation.

For ultimate pickup matching, the two-way VOICE switch provides two distinct flavors of midrange character. Setting the switch to 808 delivers the exact, classic, smooth mid-hump of the original Japanese topology. Flipping to the MOD setting shifts that mid emphasis slightly higher up the frequency spectrum with a more resonant, biting presence peak. This MOD profile is a game-changer for neck humbuckers—preventing them from sounding muddy or "woolly"—and acts as an exceptional tool for modern metal players looking to tighten up a high-gain amplifier tone with extra presence and razor-sharp note tracking.

Product Intelligence & Contextual Attributes

• Best For: Blues, Classic Rock, Modern Metal (as a high-gain tightener), Fusion, and players who use their guitar volume knob as a primary dynamic controller.
• Tone Profile: Mid-Forward, Articulate, Dynamic, Punchy, Touch-Sensitive.
• Compared To: Vintage Ibanez® TS808 Tube Screamer®, boutique 808 variants.
• Country of Manufacture: Designed and built to absolute premium standards in England.

Sanctuary Expert Note: Traditional green drives are great for solos, but they can feel like a blunt instrument because they rob you of your natural clean tone the moment you try to play softly. What Origin has achieved with the ADAPT circuitry is spectacular—it gives you all the fat, mix-cutting mid saturation you want for single-note leads, but melts away into a transparent, full-bandwidth clean boost the moment you roll back your volume knob. It’s the most usable, interactive green drive we’ve ever had in the shop.
