1937 Rickenbacker Electro Model 59 Lap Steel - Ivory
For sale is a 1937 Rickenbacker Electro Model 59 lap steel, complete with its original purple‑lined case. This is a pre‑war, stamped‑steel body model with the classic horseshoe pickup, and it’s a fantastic example of early electric steel history. It’s fully functional, works great, and sounds every bit as rich and singing as you’d hope from a vintage Rickenbacker.
The cream/ivory crinkle finish shows honest wear, checking, and small dings typical of an instrument approaching 90 years old, but there are no structural issues or modifications. The pickup is strong and clear, the volume knob operates smoothly, and the guitar is quiet and stable when plugged in. Tuners are functioning and hold pitch well for a lap steel. Fret markers and fingerboard lines are intact and legible.
The original fitted case is included. It shows exterior wear and edge fraying but all hinges/latches work and the purple interior still supports the instrument well. Overall this is a very solid, gig‑ready vintage lap steel and a great piece for collectors, recording players, or anyone who wants a legit 1930s Rickenbacker in their arsenal.
