Martin D-18 from 1947 with a bear claw top, fully original, and in an amazing shape. The guitar sounds very nice with a lot of volume, a dry ‘vintage’ sound, and a lot of overtones.
The guitar has been stored in a closet for the past 50 years by the original owner and is therefore in a fantastic and original shape. It had a recent neck reset and plays very well with 2-2,5 mm of space between the frets and strings. The original tuners are in great shape, turn well end hold tune well. The finish, bridge, pickguard and frets are original. There are no cracks. There are a few scratches here and there, mainly on the sides of the guitar, but only very minor dings and buckle wear on the top and back. This is pretty remarkable for a guitar this age. It has a bear claw top, which according to many is a sign of a stiffer top and thereby a better sound. The guitar still has its original carved Lifton case, which is in good condition. Only the bridge pins are not original.
The guitar has had maintenance recently. The neck has been reset, the heel (the block inside the guitar which has the serial number on it), and the bindings on the neck side of the guitar have been reglued.
The guitar can be tested in Amsterdam, close to Schiphol Airport and train station Amsterdam-Zuid. I have good boxed and shipping material, so I am also happy to ship it.
