## Why This Guitar
This was the first Martin ever produced with a polished black finish, built at Cash's request and famously not approved in advance by C.F. Martin III — Martin's president reportedly didn't know it existed until he saw Cash playing it on television. Genuine examples from the first year of the commemorative run (2006) are increasingly sought after by both players and Johnny Cash collectors.
