Up for sale, a 1965 Epiphone Coronet in perfect working order, complete with the original chipboard case. This rare Epiphone gem was produced by Gibson at their Kalamazoo factory, fundamentally identical to an SG Junior in terms of tonewoods and electronics but significantly less common and aesthetically unique via the slim double-cutaway body and six-on-a-side “batwing” headstock, outfitted with a dogear P-90 pickup and Maestro VMB-1 Vibrola.

The all-mahogany construction gives this Coronet great natural midrange kick and growl, and the P-90 is highly responsive to picking dynamics, yielding pristine, shimmering cleans and singing overdriven bite with terrific note attack. Featherweight at 5lbs 11oz, this Coronet has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Cherry nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, exhibiting tight lacquer checking. There’s an area of buckle rash adjacent to the belly carve on the back and various chips, dings and finish scratches consistent with use, largely relegated to the lower bout perimeter. The smooth nitro gloss on the neck profile includes similar checking, with two chips just above the neck heel that are smooth to the touch and a few shallow marks on the profile length.

The original gray form-fit chipboard case is included.
