Les Paul GT

Phantom Black

8.8 Pounds – Serial: 014470411

Here is another rare one you probably will not find hanging in your local guitar shop. This listing is for my 2007 Gibson USA Les Paul GT in the stunning Phantom Black finish. The serial number on this one is 014470411 and it weighs in at stout 8.8 pounds. The Les Paul GT was produced between 2006 and 2008 as a limited-run model built around a "hot rod" theme. Gibson offered it in only five finishes and this Phantom Black finish does not pop up often. Notice the ghost Hot Rod Flame on the lower half of the front body, unique to the GT model. This awesome LP also has an Ebony Fingerboard with MIRROR Trapezoid inlays. I tell you, with the GT Truss Cover the rich, gloss black finish and the Mirror Inlays-- Ohhh yeah, this one gets Ohh’s and Ahh’s the moment you pop the case.

This LP GT is just about 20 years old. In 2007 the first iPhone debuted, Prince gave us his legendary Super Bowl Half Time Show and the Spice Girls launched their reunion tour. The world sure was a different place and Gibson had this  awesome GT model had some uncommon features for it’s time. The Neutrik Locking output jack and the Graph Tech Nut are examples of this. Being 20 years old, the Push Pull  Coil Spliting Switches were not as common as today. Remember, the unique 2008 Gibson Les Paul Standard with its radical weight and electronic changes had not been released yet. This Les Paul GT was a little ahead of its time. Ebony Fingerboard is a big spec.  This was going into the years where Ebony was going to be more difficult to get and Gibson soon would offer us the Richlite synthetic alternative which players did not take to well.

Im pleased to tell you the front of this guitar shows absolutely amazing.  Do you have any idea how difficult it is to photograph a glossy, black Les Paul? Every piece of dust and light reflection shows. Ive done my best to capture it. Some photos you will see light reflection so I could bring out the amazing Ghost Flames on the front lower body. There is a tiny dimple on the low e side toward the neck pickup.  I have it photographed close up with the tip of a pen. Yes, you can barely see it but it is there. No  surprises.A little south of that below the left bridge side is a small mark that looks like a smudge on the clear coat. You will try to wipe it off. It will not wipe off.

Flip over to the rear body and Im happy to say it is also a rich, gloss finish up and down. There are some dings and nicks on the lower body spread across. I have plenty of close up photos with a pen to show the size. Of course I wish they weren’t there, however my feelings have always been much more open on rear body nicks and dings. It’s the rear body. No one is going to see them. Some marks by the Neutrik Jack input from fiddling with the cable. Not the end of the world and no paint is missing. Hidden in the shadows and I have a photo for you to see with a super bright flash to bring it out. Does not look that bad in real life.   THAT’S IT! Nothing else to tell.  A serious spec Gibson USA Les Paul GT in a hard to find Phantom Black finish. What are you waiting for?
