• Dual Preamp Tube Architecture (12AX7 & EF86): The standout feature of the Cub III series is a mini-toggle switch (also foot-switchable) that lets you change the V1 preamp tube.
• • 12AX7 Mode: Delivers traditional, sweet boutique chime with high touch-sensitivity and massive clean headroom.
  • EF86 Mode: Shifts the amplifier into a punchier, more aggressive gain structure with enhanced high/low-end response, reminiscent of early British designs.
• EL34 Power Section: Unlike lower-wattage Cub variants that use EL84s, the 40-watt version utilizes two EL34 power tubes operating in a cathode-biased, Class A/B configuration. This design yields tight, percussive low end, aggressive mids, and enough stage volume to cut through any mix.
• Patented K-Master® Volume Circuit: Bad Cat’s proprietary K-Master control re-invents the traditional master volume. It allows you to push the power amp tubes into natural saturation while keeping the preamp perfectly clean, or conversely, drive the preamp hard while attenuating the overall volume down to bedroom levels without losing tonal fidelity.
• Interactive Boost & Controls: The control layout features Volume, Tone, Bass, Treble, Presence, Reverb, and K-Master knobs. It also includes a selectable tone stack boost that essentially gives this single-channel amp four distinct gain stages ranging from sparkling clean to heavy crunch.
