Pre-CBS 1964 Fender Precision Bass with a great look, feel, and tone. If you're looking for a pre-CBS P Bass that you can play, gig, or record without all the issues you'd usually find in a 60-year-old instrument, this could be your answer. This bass is lightweight and resonant with a beautiful Brazilian Rosewood round-lam fretboard and a very comfortable, wide, thin, and subtly V shaped neck profile that I have not seen recreated accurately on any reissue. The truss rod is fully functional and the bass plays low and clean on the original frets, which show very minimal signs of wear. It sports a very old, hand-brushed but well done natural refinish on the body that has ambered over the decades and aged and worn with the bass very nicely. The neck remains all original and the finish is worn in on the back to play very smoothly. The reverse-gear tuners turn smoothly and hold tuning well.

There are some non-original components on the bass, all else is believed to have come with the bass from the factory:

- The pickup is a Fender Pure Vintage ‘63 Precision Bass pickup and sounds excellent

- The volume pot has been replaced with a modern CTS pot. The original Stackpole volume pot (date code: 641X) is dirty and has a dead spot at full volume, but might potentially be repaired and is included with the bass.

- The pickguard is a Fender Pure Vintage ‘63 Tortoise guard, with what I believe is the original shielding plate underneath

- Both control knobs are modern replacements

The bass is currently strung with round-wound D’Addario XL 45-100 strings, if you prefer a fresh set or any different set of strings please ask after ordering and I will be happy to set it up at no extra charge with your string of choice (D’Addario, Rotosound, LaBella, Ernie Ball. DR, GHS, etc. make your request! (within reason)). The bass will ship carefully packed in a non-original modern molded hardshell case, fully insured with signature required on delivery. For buyers outside of the continental United States, I have set the shipping cost high to cover expenses but will refund you the full difference once it ships. Please message me for an estimate on shipping to your country. I have done my best to describe this instrument and provide plenty of photos, however this bass is sold AS DESCRIBED so please message me for any additional photos or with any questions you may have before ordering as all sales will be final.

Thank you for your consideration
