Another quality Guitar from Lovies Guitars!
Lovies Guitars is excited to present this 1931 Gibson Nick Lucas Special Acoustic Guitar finished in Sunburst. A true piece of Gibson history, the Nick Lucas Special was one of the earliest signature artist models ever produced and remains one of the most collectible and revered Gibson acoustics ever made. Designed in collaboration with legendary guitarist Nick Lucas, these instruments are celebrated for their exceptional craftsmanship, distinctive tone, and rarity among vintage Gibson flat-tops.
This 1931 example features highly desirable Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, producing a rich, complex voice with impressive sustain, clarity, and harmonic depth. The compact body design offers a wonderfully balanced response, making it equally inspiring for fingerstyle playing, blues, jazz, and vintage-inspired acoustic work. The classic Sunburst finish, historic appointments, and early Gibson construction make this a remarkable instrument for collectors and serious players.
This Nick Lucas Special has received professional attention from Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, including a neck reset and refret to ensure excellent playability. The original trapeze tailpiece has been removed and plugged, with a rosewood bridge added for a more traditional acoustic setup. It has also been upgraded with a K&K Mini Pure pickup, making this rare vintage Gibson ready for both collection and performance.
This guitar comes complete with an Original Hardshell Case (OHSC).
Condition: 9/10 - Very Good. Exceptionally good condition for its age. The guitar has had professional repairs and modifications including a removed and plugged trapeze tailpiece, added rosewood bridge, neck reset, and refret by Gruhn Guitars Nashville. There is a repaired crack at the bridge with two cleats and a repaired/cleated crack on the top near the pickguard screw hole. A remarkable survivor with excellent playability and vintage character.
