1953 Gibson J185 Natural - serial A16031

Offered for sale is an incredibly rare and beautiful 1953 Gibson J-185 in its factory-original Natural finish. Introduced in 1951 as a more compact, comfortable alternative to the massive SJ-200, the J-185 is widely regarded by acoustic connoisseurs as one of the best-balanced and most responsive flattops Gibson ever produced.

This specific example is in great condition and features an absolutely spectacular, premium AAA flamed maple back and sides. The intense, deep flame figure ripples beautifully under the original lacquer, making this instrument as stunning to look at as it is to play. The back of the headstock is refined by a beautiful, factory made, black "stinger".

TONE & PLAYABILITY
The guitar has been pro setup by our ToneTeam Luthier Matteo Rufini and sounds amazing, offering the characteristic projection, crisp note definition, and punchy midrange that only a golden-era maple Gibson can provide. Whether played with a light touch or driven hard with a flatpick, its voice remains beautifully clear, woody, and perfectly balanced across all registers. The neck profile is exceptionally comfortable, making it a dream for both players and serious collectors alike.

THE INLAYS
True to its mid-50s Kalamazoo pedigree, the guitar features the iconic double parallelogram fingerboard inlays paired with the distinctive Maltese crosses delicately inlaid on either side of the original rosewood bridge.

THE CASE
The instrument comes complete with its original hardshell case, fitting the guitar perfectly and providing excellent protection.
