Fujigen Gakki EJ-1 Project - Original Parts - Straight Neck - Mosrite Style Bridge - Solid Body - 1963

I am selling my Fujigen EJ-1 guitar project, made in Japan around 1963. I’ve seen the same guitar, or very similar ones, also branded as Valiant, Zim Garr, Grossman, Kent and even Strad-O-Lin. The EJ-1 (and EJ-2) came with lovely “TZK” gold foil pickups and were nice players. I got this one without the gold foil pickup - it will make a sweet project.

The neck is straight, frets look pretty healthy, it has a truss rod, the metal truss plate is also included. The tuners are original and seem in good condition. The metal pickguard is clean and fairly dense. Also included are the shoulder strap knobs and a basic tailpiece. I was going to use the Mosrite style bridge with another project so filled the holes, but am including it, with the stems. If you use it you will just have to drill out the holes again.

The original wiring is intact and should work. Original knobs also included.

The body has some nicks and a few small gouges but is intact and solid.

Update: I’ve included a picture of a gentleman named Mr. Tezuka,  who wound the pickups for this model back in the day.
