This is one of those guitars that makes perfectly rational adults forget why they walked into the room. You glance at it from across the studio and suddenly you're holding it twenty seconds later without remembering the trip.
The TV Pelham Blue Sparkle finish is absolutely ridiculous...
...and we mean that as the highest compliment imaginable.
It somehow manages to be classy, vintage, flashy, understated, elegant, rebellious, and just a little bit dangerous... all at the same time. It's like Gibson hired an artist, a hot rod builder, and a rock guitarist, locked them in a room, and said, "Nobody leaves until this thing makes people grin."
Mission accomplished.
Then there's the Murphy Lab Light Aging.
Unlike your buddy Dave, who thinks dropping his guitar down a flight of stairs qualifies as "relicing," the Murphy Lab actually knows what they're doing. Every bit of checking, edge wear, softened hardware, and subtle aging feels completely authentic. It has all the vibe of a guitar that's been making records for sixty years...
...without the cigarette burns, spilled beer, mystery odors, or questionable life choices.
Plug it in, and the pair of P-90s immediately remind you why they've survived every trend that's come and gone since the Eisenhower administration.
They're bold.
They're raw.
They're articulate.
They clean up beautifully.
They snarl when asked.
And if you can't get a great tone out of these pickups...
...the guitar has politely requested that we not blame the pickups.
At only 6.6 pounds, this SG is ridiculously comfortable. Hang it around your neck and it almost feels like Gibson forgot to finish building it... until you hit your first chord and the entire room reminds you exactly where all that sound is coming from.
The slim neck carve is exactly what you'd hope for—fast enough for lead work, substantial enough to feel like you're actually holding an instrument instead of a yardstick.
And let's be honest...
You weren't shopping for an ordinary SG.
You were looking for the one that makes other guitar players slowly wander across the room pretending they "just wanted a closer look."
We've seen it happen.
Repeatedly.
