Gibson Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar — Vintage Sunburst | Near Mint | Original Owner |
Overview
This is a genuinely exceptional opportunity to acquire one of Gibson's most iconic and visually striking acoustic guitars in near-mint condition. Purchased new in October 2025 directly from an authorized dealer, this Hummingbird has been played only a handful of times and remains in essentially factory-fresh condition. I am the sole owner. The guitar is being sold strictly to rationalize an extensive collection — not because anything is wrong with it.
Serial Number: 21825107 Manufactured: Gibson USA, Bozeman, Montana
The Finish: A Work of Art
The Vintage Sunburst finish on this instrument is, without exaggeration, visually stunning. The top transitions from a rich, honeyed amber at the center to a deep tobacco brown at the edges — a gradient that photographs beautifully but is even more arresting in person. The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer is flawless, with zero checking, scratches, or playing wear.
The legendary Hummingbird pickguard is the true centerpiece: a tortoiseshell base adorned with an intricate hand-engraved design featuring a hummingbird in flight among trumpet flowers, mushrooms, leaves, and a butterfly — rendered in white and gold. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful pickguards in all of acoustic guitar production. The back and sides are a deep, near-black mahogany that stands in dramatic contrast to the sunburst top.

The tone is everything the Hummingbird reputation promises: warm and full in the low-mids, articulate and present in the trebles, with the characteristic "bloom" that solid spruce over mahogany produces. Action is factory-set and comfortable. No buzzing, no dead spots, no issues of any kind.

This guitar is as close to new as a pre-owned instrument can be. It has been stored in its case in a climate-controlled environment since purchase. There are no dings, dents, scratches, buckle rash, or finish issues of any kind. The frets show no wear. The nut and saddle are pristine.
Why Sell?
A serious guitar collection sometimes requires difficult choices. This Hummingbird deserves an owner who will play it regularly and appreciate everything it offers. It is priced fairly for a near-mint example with all original documentation.
