Up For Sale is this gnarly example of a player grade Fender Strat from the late 60’s!
This one has lots to explain so buckle up!
The body has a very old refinish that was done in a thick enamel white paint, the paint has faded to a nice looking Olympic White and the checking looks GREAT!
The Trem cavity looks to have had some material removed at some point, likely to make room for something else at one point in time. The cavity housing the pots was enlarged and the bridge position was enlarged to fit a humbucker at one point.
The original pickups have been replaced with extremely high quality grey bottom Custom Shop pickups!
- All electronics look to be changed, aside from the Switch!
- The pickup covers look correct and the adjustment screws look right as well!
- Saddles look correct but are likely repro, as well as the trem block itself!
- Tuners are original!
- Pickguard is an obvious replacement and there looks to be a mid boost switch installed as well!
- Output jack and plate look to be correct!
- Neckplate is original!
The truss rod looks to have had a repair at some point, and whatever happened to the neck; it looks as if some material was broken off near the end of the fretboard and some filler was put in place of it! Despite this, the neck plays great and looks great as well!
The headstock has the usual tuner cracks, these look to have been glued up at one point! Probably around the same time as the heel repair.
The neck was refretted a long time ago with some larger frets and even though they are worn, the feel great to play! Action is low and comfortable and the neck is miraculously straight! See pictures!
