Guild D-55 – USA Made (1994–1996) | Pre-Fender Era | Classic Rosewood Dreadnought

For sale is a Guild D-55, built in the United States during the highly respected pre-Fender Guild era between 1994 and 1996.

Among American dreadnoughts, the D-55 has long been regarded as one of Guild's flagship acoustic models, combining powerful projection, rich rosewood depth, and exceptional craftsmanship. This example has aged beautifully and remains a superb player's instrument.

The guitar shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with its age, but there are no major dents, cracks, or structural concerns. It has recently received a professional setup and fret dressing, ensuring excellent playability. The neck is stable, the action feels comfortable, and the instrument responds effortlessly across the entire fingerboard.

A previous repair appears to have been performed on a small section of the fingerboard binding. The work is stable and does not affect playability or structural integrity.

Tonally, this D-55 delivers exactly what has made the model famous for decades. The rosewood body provides a deep, authoritative low end and rich overtones, while the spruce top adds clarity and projection. The result is a powerful yet balanced dreadnought voice that excels equally at flatpicking, strumming, and fingerstyle playing.

Many players describe the D-55 as Guild's answer to the finest American rosewood dreadnoughts, offering tremendous volume, excellent note separation, and a strong fundamental character that sits beautifully in both live and recording environments.

Finding a well-maintained pre-Fender D-55 is becoming increasingly difficult, especially one that remains structurally healthy and ready to play without requiring additional work.
