This is an iconic pedal that really reacts to your pick attack. I have owned many pedals that state that but this one really cleans up with how lightly you pick and gets more distorted when you increase your attack. Yes like others it also cleans up with guitar volume controls.
The caveat is there is a lot of gain (volume) on tap. Hard for someone who doesn’t want to push the front of the amp to get that unity gain. Don’t get me wrong. It can be done. I’ve done it. This pedals extremely quiet when it needs to be. But it was designed to play loud.
So all the bedroom players pass this one by it’s not for you. I wish someone told me that before I purchased it.
