Martin D-35 acoustic guitar made in Nazareth PA in 1966. Serial number 214824. This is one of 977 D-35's that were produced in 1966 after having been introduced into the Martin lineup in 1965. This one has a stunning three piece Brazilian Rosewood back and beautifully figured sides with rich ebony striping through the set. There is one crack in the back that is about 3" long that has been repaired. The guitar has recently come out of Kerry Char's shop here in Portland with a fresh neck set so the instrument is set up well and is a real cannon.

The solid Sitka Spruce top has seen some wear, particularly around the bridge where it appears to have been removed and refitted with a correct Ebony belly-bridge with a new captured bone saddle. Most of the rest of the top maintains it's original patina with finish checking throughout. I suspect the top was off this guitar and it was at some point, expertly rebraced with a new Maple bridge plate and the center seam as well as the crack on the lower bout glued and cleated with delicate Spruce triangles.

Despite the rough and ready treatment around the bridge area, and visible movement of the bridge, the saddle is in the correct location.

The pick guard is original and the Ebony fingerboard shows no play ware. The guitar appears to have been refretted at the same time the other work was done and also show no play wear. The neck is straight and the headstock is clean with the original Grover butter bean tuners.

Included with the sale of the instrument is a firm fitting vintage hard shell Lifton case with plush orange lining. All latches are present and work as they should.

The string height at the 12th fret is 5/32" on the bass side and 1/8" on the treble side.

The string length is 25.4".

The nut width is 1 11/16"

The weight is 4 pounds 9 oz.
