Here for sale we have a PRS Silver Sky Electric Guitar in Frost finish. Two and a half years in the making, the Silver Sky is a collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and John Mayer aimed at capturing their favourite elements from their own vintage '63 & '64 instruments, whilst retaining the precision and playability of a modern PRS. Made in the USA in 2021, this instrument features a bolt-on construction comprising an Alder body, Maple neck and 22 fret East Indian Rosewood fingerboard. A vintage-style 6-point tremolo is fitted, along with PRS vintage-style locking tuning machines. The pickups are a trio PRS 635JM single-coils which are wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume, neck/middle tone and bridge tone controls.

The Maple neck plays beautifully, with the 635JM profile sitting very comfortably in the hand and providing ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers. The profile is based on vintage necks from John Mayer's personal collection, and as a result offers a suitably vintage-inspired playing experience. This theme is continued to the fingerboard with it's 7.25" radius. PRS acoustic frets have been used, which fall between vintage frets and standard PRS frets in size. These add a level of refinement to the playing surface for authentic vintage feel whilst retaining practicality for string bending. The headstock was specially designed for the Silver Sky, and is offset for improved string tension and tuning stability, as well as a unique aesthetic. The use of Alder for the body ensures a comfortable and lightweight feel on the shoulders - perfect for those long gigs.

The trio of 635JM pickups Silver Sky deliver a varied set of tones, perfect for a wide range of styles. Designed to be an idealised blend of some of the best 60's style strat pickups, all positions offer a great deal of clarity that ensure you can cut through a full band mix with ease. The neck position is warm and buttery, with clean sounds that chime beautifully and provide plenty of thickness for driving an amp. The middle pickup produces an understated yet detailed low end and smooth mids that are perfect for funky sounds, whilst the bridge position is snappy and bright for your country and blues licks. Easily capable of all the John Mayer tones you know and love with plenty of scope for crafting your own unique sound, it's easy to see why the Silver Sky has had such an impact in the guitar world.
