The MOTU 2408 is a multi-channel audio interface built around three banks of digital I/O supporting ADAT Optical, TDIF, and S/PDIF formats, enabling up to 24 channels of simultaneous digital audio. It also provides 8 balanced analog inputs and 10 balanced analog outputs via TRS connectors, alongside Word Clock In/Out for studio synchronization. The unit connects to a host computer via a dedicated PCI card using MOTU's proprietary cable. A notable feature is its standalone operation mode, which allows the 2408 to function as a format converter between analog and digital domains without a computer, configured directly from the front panel.
