This 1966 Harmony H-73 Roy Smeck is in exceptionally fine and completely original condition. It comes from the first owner (!) and has never been repaired or modified. It is one of the nicest H-73s we have come across, and it includes the original case, which is in particularly fine condition.

The H-73 was one of Harmony’s top models at the time and stands out thanks to its fully hollow body, vibrato unit, and, of course, its distinctive deep red finish with white accents. The H-73 is a lightweight and highly resonant guitar that sounds impressive both acoustically and when amplified.

This Roy Smeck is equipped with two original DeArmond Gold Foil pickups with adjustable pole pieces. The pickups are stamped “April 15, 1966” on the back. In terms of tone, they deliver exactly what these models are so beloved for: clear, open, and dynamic, with a nice attack and rich midrange. Combined with the fully hollow laminated maple body, this creates a particularly lively and warm sound.

The neck has a full C-shape, offering comfortable playability and a nut width of 1 3/4″. The original frets are still in excellent condition, with only minimal wear.

The guitar also features the original Waverly open-back tuners, an original floating rosewood bridge with a bone saddle insert, original pickup spacers, and the original “cupcake” knobs. The vibrato also works as it should.

Cosmetically, the guitar is in exceptionally good condition for its age. Naturally, there are some light signs of wear, including a few small spots and scratches, but none of them are distracting. The original red nitrocellulose finish is completely intact, with no overspray or touch-ups.

In short, a particularly beautiful and completely original 1966 Harmony H-73 Roy Smeck. A rare, well-preserved vintage hollow-body guitar with fantastic tone, appearance, and playability.

Comes with the original gray chipboard case, which is in excellent condition.
