This Fender Stratocaster Plus Top guitar has a Flame Maple Top (FMT) over an alder body with a transparent amber finish, and was Made in Mexico (MIM) in 2012. This listing is for the sale of the complete guitar including everything shown in the listing photos. I have also created a separate listing for the sale of the body alone without the neck, for those who wish to supply their own necks. Fender's Made in Mexico Plus Top/Flame Maple Top (FMT) Stratocasters have most often been available in sunburst finishes, so this transparent amber finish is fairly rare. The amber finish has been somewhat more common on USA Made Fender flame maple top Strats, but it's still not one of the most common finishes so I think this body is rather special.
The guitar body is in excellent condition with very little wear. Has a few very small light scratches and surface marks that my camera could not capture, which are barely noticeable in person. The amber finish looks beautiful over both the flame maple top and the alder back, and the flame figuring has nice depth and chatoyance. Really a gorgeous and unique guitar body in excellent condition.
The guitar currently for sale here has had the original 2012 Fender Made in Mexico maple neck replaced with the 2009 Fender Made In Mexico maple neck shown in the photos, because I preferred the feel of this 2009 neck profile slightly more than the guitar's original 2012 neck. This 2009 neck feels very comfortable and plays great, with good action and not much fret wear. The only issue with this 2009 neck is some discoloration on the back of the neck around the start of the walnut strip (2nd-3rd fret position). This neck had some finish damage in this area that was repaired with polyurethane clear coat that was blended into the original polyurethane neck finish and buffed out to a smooth, seamless finish transition. The poly finish repair feels perfectly smooth, but attempting to tint the repaired area before spraying the clear coat resulted in an area with a more yellow appearance than the original tint of the neck. My phone camera's color contrast settings seem to exaggerate the tint difference, and the discolored area doesn't look that bad in person and I never notice it when playing, it's really only noticeable if you scrutinize the area while closely inspecting it or taking a photo. Other than this minor cosmetic issue with the neck tint, this is a really beautiful guitar in excellent condition.
