Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a unique 1960's Claricon 38-503 model dynamic microphone with an all metal body and satin chromes finish that closely resembled the classic Astatic 77A model mic from that era. This mic comes with a vintage short mic cable in which to operate.

It should be noted right away that the mic has been tested. It does work but the signal strength is only about 70%. This mic can be used but I have heard stronger examples. It can still be used for recording or general broadcasting purposes as it was designed. It's omni-directional in nature so it's polar pattern tends to pick up a bit more sound than a uni-directional mic.

Pic # 2 shows a young Rick Astley using one on these mics in a video shoot of the hit song Never Gonna Give You Up.

The mic is set at high impedance and has an old school "rockabilly" sound being clear and bright in nature with virtually no bass as a high impedance mic usually sounds.

This microphone has a classic mid century, modern design and is quite handsome. Certainly a more aggressive design. This Claricon model is about half the size of the Astatic 77A.

This mic also has an on off switch that works just fine. No issues.

This will make a fun mic to use especially if you have a HAM radio set up.

This microphone is in very good overall shape despite it's age. It has a few scratches & scuff marks here and there but no dents or fractures. Just tiny pitting on the front grill. The black inner cloth pop filter is excellent.

This mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand you choose to use as no desk stand is provided.

You'll notice that there is a shorter 9 foot cable included to operate the mic. The cable is free of any wear. It's soft, pliable and works perfectly with the standard male 1/4 inch end connector.

This mic is easily a 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10 cosmetically speaking. It will make a very fine display piece even if you choose not to use it.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

If you need a period stand I have plenty to choose from in my online store.

As with all my vintage microphones...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and the item will be re-listed. Domestic and foreign buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
