Ray-Era Ayotte Custom maple kits from the 1990s are highly regarded for their build quality, tuning stability, and North American production under Ray Ayotte’s supervision before the company changed ownership. Complete, sequentially matched five-piece sets in power tom configurations are increasingly hard to find.

Shell Pack Dimensions & Details:

• 22×18 kick, 16×14, 14×12, 12×10, 10×8 toms

• Maple shells

• Sequential serial numbers

• Transparent purple finish shows visible grain under a deep factory hand-dye

• Clean, round shells with well-preserved bearing edges

Hoops:

• Factory black metal tom hoops installed

• Full additional set of chrome metal tom hoops included (all toms)

• Bass drum retains original wood hoops

• Compared to Ayotte’s more common wood hoops on the toms, metal hoops offer significantly greater durability, more stable tuning, and a tighter, more focused attack.

Condition:

Very good for its age.

• Shells are round and tune easily

• Bearing edges are clean and intact

• Finish shows minor cosmetic wear consistent with age

• Hardware shows normal wear from use

• One DW boom arm has a slight dent from over-clamping but functions normally and holds position securely

• Bass drum case is missing center handle; side handles intact

• Shell cases' foam liners have been removed; shells remain fully protected by hard cases

• No other structural issues with drums, hardware or cases
