Vintage 1960's Lafayette 99-4530 dynamic microphone w stand & cable Calrad Lafayette prop display # 1

       Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

 You are looking at a somewhat rare and beautiful older Japanese microphone. 

 This is a late 50's / early 1960's era Lafayette microphone has a dynamic element and resembles strongly the RCA BK-1A of that same era thought the Lafayette model is only half the size.

 That being said this Lafayette has been tested and while it still works with it's original element...the output is quite low and cannot be used as it was designed. Probably about 20% output. The mic is Dual Z capable and was good for general broadcasting. It was a very affordable option when it was sold as most American dynamic microphones were quite expensive.

 As you can see in the pictures provided the chrome pieces and painted body is very nice being practically free of any cosmetic flaws what so ever. I can only count 3 small nicks and a few minor scuffs in the paint The metal screen is like new and really pops with the Robin Blue paint scheme. The mic has a chrome swivel that works perfectly with lots of tension and allows for a wide degree of tilt. 

 You'll notice that there is a short cable that exits from the rear of the mic and it has the Switchcraft male XLR end connector. The cable is in great shape.

 The mic will separate from the metal base with the a few twists of the chrome screw on the bottom allowing for hand held use. You could also mount the mic to any microphone stand once it was detached from the base which is a pretty clever design.

 The base is an aluminum design that makes for a stable but lite weight platform.

 Display this beautiful and unique Japanese microphone among your other fine vintage microphones. It's sure to draw attention anywhere it sits despite not working very well.

 This mic is easily a 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10 on the physical side.
