This Vito branded alto is actually a YAS-23 made by Yamaha (Japan) around the 2000 time-frame based on serial #.

Condition: Original lacquer on body and neck is 85% present. The cosmetic condition overall is VG due to the following blemishes: slight loss of lacquer bottom of sax and lip of bell rim, lacquer level scratches below thumb hook (see last photo), and brush marks along one side of the sax. With the restoration work (June 2026), it is in MINT functional and playing condition.

Original case is EX condition there is just slight felt loss around mouthpiece holder hole that keeps it from being rated MINT(see photos).

To ensure that this instrument is in its best playing (MINT) condition, pads that have the most saliva contact and with any leaks were replaced as a matter of preventive maintenance. The pads specifically replaced were high D, high E, high D# and high F, upper B, low D#, G#, side B flat, and the neck octave key.  Replacement pads are Music Medic leather pads with dome resonators (see photo of replacement pad group). All other pads were cleaned and verified to be at least in EX condition (i.e., no stains, leaks, dried out etc.)

In addition to the 10 new pads, the restoration of this saxophone included:

 1) Entire saxophone disassembled, sax body and neck ultrasonically cleaned with Tesch Classic Brass cleaning solution.

 2) Rods cleaned and given fresh Yamaha key oil

 3) Nickel silver keys machine buffed and polished.

 4) Post screw and key hinge openings cleaned with pipe cleaners and given fresh Yamaha key oil

 5) Springs inspected and polished

 6) Felt pads, cork pads, and neck cork replaced as necessary

 7) After reassembly - entire sax checked for leaks - pads/keys adjusted to ensure proper seating/sealing then the instrument was play tested.

With the Tesch ultrasonic cleaning, it is super clean inside and out. (see photos of stripped-down saxophone body).  It plays beautifully!! Watch the video of my 14 year old using it.

Being sold "As Described" - you would be hard pressed to find another in this condition at this price with this much information. Not many ads show the actual instrument completely disassembled or being played. No need to guess/chance on the condition of the sax body under the keys, how the pads look, the work performed, or how it plays. Price includes saxophone body, neck, plastic end plug, original case as shown.

As an experienced restorer and seller of saxophones with a 100% Positive Feedback rating, you can be assured to be pleased with your purchase. All my customers have been pleased with my restoration work (check feedback comments). I take my time and meticulously restore 4 to 5 saxophones a year - it is more about interest and passion to give these instruments a new life and home. I monitor the pricing of Vito/Yamaha saxophones on the market and price my instruments fairly based on the condition of the instrument and the labor and materials involved to restore it back to optimal performance. Typically, I sell my restored Yamaha/Vito saxes between $800-$1000. Due to the scratches below the thumb hook I am discounting this one to be sold for $700. It plays as well as any of my restored saxes - it's just not as pretty.

Continental U.S. buyers only. It will be carefully packed and shipped to you fully insured via UPS Ground for $60.
