This guitar was sent to Gibson for work in 2011 and all the noted work is documented in the pics.
Neck was also polished and clear coated in the early 80's.
This guitar plays and sounds amazing.
All scratches and finish wear is noted.
Core Specifications & Features
- Body & Neck: Solid walnut. Unlike later Deluxe versions which used mahogany, early "The SG" models featured solid walnut bodies and a 3-piece laminated walnut neck.
- Fretboard: Ebony fretboard with mother-of-pearl dot inlays and 24 frets.
- Hardware: Often equipped with Grover "milk bottle" or Rotomatic tuners and standard Tune-O-Matic bridges.
- Neck Profile: Starts slim near the 1st fret (around 0.80") and gets considerably beefier and rounder as you reach the 12th fret.
Vintage Market Insights & ToneKnown colloquially as part of the "Firebrand" series, Gibson marketed this guitar as an affordable but high-quality alternative to higher-tier SGs. Despite being initially positioned as a budget model, all-walnut configurations are highly praised today for their sonic bite and durability.
