Canadian luthier Jeff Sigurdson has earned a cult following among flamenco players for one specific reason: he builds guitars that feel like they were born in a 1950s Madrid workshop but perform with the structural reliability of a modern boutique instrument. Drawing on a lineage that includes time with Jean Larrivée and studies under Michael Dunn (of the Casa Ferrer tradition), Sigurdson’s flamencos are "workhorse" instruments with a concert-level voice.
These currently go for $4000 on the Sigurdson website.
