The Black Lion Audio PBR XLR 16F DSub is a 16-channel XLR-to-DB25 breakout patchbay, routing sixteen front XLR inputs to two rear DB25 connectors. It converts a bank of individual XLR cables into two tidy multi-pin connections behind the rack. That turns a crowd of mic cables into a clean, manageable loom. In one rack space it tames the cabling between your microphones and your interface.

How the XLR-to-DB25 Breakout Works

A breakout maps individual XLR connectors to the pins of a multi-channel DB25 connector. On this unit, sixteen female XLR inputs on the front feed two rear DB25 connectors. Each front input passes straight to its assigned DB25 pin, so wiring stays direct and predictable. That lets one DB25 snake carry what used to be eight separate cables.

Phantom Power Passes Straight Through

The bay passes 48-volt phantom power through the DB25 wiring to the connected interface or preamp. That means condenser microphones plugged into the front still receive the power they need. Because the path is direct, phantom reaches the mics without any conversion or loss. Nothing about the breakout interrupts normal microphone operation.

A Fully Passive Signal Path

This bay is fully passive and requires no power source of its own. Signals pass straight through the connectors with no active stage to add noise or coloration. That keeps the breakout transparent and dependable in the middle of a signal chain. It simply reorganizes cabling without changing the audio.

Built to Handle Heavy Cabling

A reinforced steel chassis with an internal backplate keeps the DB25 connectors rigid under thick looms. Gold-plated XLR and DB25 contacts resist corrosion and hold a clean balanced path. The unit occupies one rack unit, 1.75 inches tall, on a 19-inch rail. Front-panel labels and a screw kit are included for a clean install.
