This unit was always in the studio, never on the road. No significant scratches, dents or key damage. It contains the E! expansion chip developed by Grey Matter Response in the mid-80s, which expands the internal storage to 256 user patches and 128 performances, adds a four-layer performance mode, expands tunings to 32, and includes a 16-track, 22,000 note internal sequencer that allows for realtime and step recording, post-recording quantization, and step editing. The E! chip also adds an 8-voice multitimbral mode, sends and receives on all 16 midi channels simultaneously, and permits one-key control of arpeggios and ostinato patterns. Many of these functions are standard now, but 40 years ago this was ground-breaking technology!
The sale includes original manuals for the DX7 and the E! chip, as well as two third-party manuals for the DX7 (one the size of a real book), including several sections on the theory behind the DX7's additive synthesis protocol. In addition, you get the original floppy disk that came with the synth and the original disk that came with the E! chip, as well a dust cover for the synth.
