DESCRIPTION

This is a 1968-model Ludwig No.404 Acrolite 5x14" snare drum that recently came into our shop on trade. It features Keystone Badge number 649985, P-83 strainer, internal muffler, seamless aluminum shell with 8 lugs, and interior date stamp SEP 8 1968. The hoops, snare side head, snare wires, and bottom tension rod washers have been replaced, but the strainer, butt, lugs, backing screws, tension rods, top tension rod washers, and internal muffler all appear to be original. The lightly used batter head has an era-correct logo, but we do not know if it is original to the drum or actually from the 1960s (it may be a re-issue).

As a vintage used instrument, expect typical age-appropriate signs of handling and use including small scuffs and scratches (see closeup photos for indicative examples), minor corrosion on some of the hardware, stick marks on the batter head, and some dust and fingerprints here and there. Light cosmetic wear aside, this snare drum is in very good, fully functioning condition, and it sounds fantastic!
