Vintage 2003 Guild X500 jazz archtop guitar w/ original case / set up by Mark Campellone – STUNNING!!
This is a “barely used” near-mint 2003 Guild X-500 archtop with original case.
Showing the lightest of overall play-wear, it is truly in amazingly clean condition and is a spectacular example with the nicest woods and appointments! Made in Corona, CA, it comes with one original hang tag, warranty booklet, and case key. With highly flamed maple back and sides and a select spruce top, it weighs in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces.
It played great when it first came to me, but I had luthier Mark Campellone do a fresh set up -- and it plays with the closest action now! Such a joy to play! No buzzing anywhere, and close action over the whole neck!! It is one of the best-playing examples I have encountered. Besides a complete set up with new .011 flat wound strings, Mark did a light fret level and detailed all the ends of the frets…it just feels fantastic! You will not find a better playing x500!
The case is in equally stunning condition with only a couple minor handling marks…it has the emerald green interior which is gorgeous, and the exterior Guild logo plate. Case is a tkl canada example.
This is a fantastic opportunity to acquire a pro-quality, super clean, vintage style, American-made, 17 inch bebop machine that plays great and also looks fantastic! The HB-1 pickups - I find - are on par with any era paf pickups but offer a warm, clean tone with less mid-range. Played through a Polytone or similar amp, this guitar sounds fantastic and captures a desirable traditional archtop jazz tone -- very warm!!!!
