Hello, up for sale is my 2010 Dean Rhapsody 8 string bass. This is a lengthy description of this bass, but I wanted to offer full disclosure and be as forthright as possible with no surprises for the buyer. I will provide additional photos to interested buyers, and video.I’ve had this bass for about 4 years now, and have not been able to give it the playing time it deserves. The Dean Rhapsody 8,& 12 string basses still get glowing reviews to this day. I’m including a copy of a Bassplayer Magazine review. It has a Mahogany body, with a beautiful Bubinga top. A comfortable 24 fret neck, with Abalone dot markers, and brass nut,Grover tuners. It has stock EMG 5 band EQ 9 volt electronics, which all work as they should. Apparently depending on where these basses in South Korea were made, or time period, determined whether they received a chrome, or black bridge, and tailpiece. A TKL Freedom hard shell case is included in the sale. I’m not sure how many previous owners this bass has passed through, but it is in great condition for its age. The only modification I have made to this bass was installing a solid brass bar in the cavity below the tailpiece. I’m not sure why that cavity was there, whether it was a mistake at the factory, or someone else trying to modify the bass. I noticed the steep string angle coming off the bridge and when I went to change strings the A string broke while detuning it. I removed the tailpiece and found a shim there, that looked like the same material that the bass is made from. I fashioned a piece of solid brass to fit perfectly into the cavity. I drilled holes into the brass bar matching the ones on the tailpiece, and body. I did not change the screws used or depth of the screw holes, everything is same as before. I reinstalled the tailpiece, restrung the bass with new D’Adario, strings, adjusted the intonation and the bass sounds great. I believe Alembic uses a brass bar under either the bridge, or tailpiece for increased sustain. I’ve documented with pictures of the bass, to show what was done, and the condition of the instrument. I’m including the shim that was below the tailpiece as well. You can put it back the way it was with no problem if you want. I would consider delivering, or a public meet up for this bass within a reasonable radius. Thank you for your consideration of this fine instrument.
