Spector doesn't make a fretless version of this bass, but I wanted one. So...
Start with a stock Legend 5 Standard bass ($600). Remove the stock pickups and install a Nordstrand Big Split ($160) in the neck position and a Nordstrand Jazz Bar ($123) in the bridge, then have the active electronics bypassed (but left intact inside in case anyone wants to reconnect them someday) and have the neck converted to fretless with maple inlays replacing the frets ($175). Install Dunlop chrome straplocks ($21) and throw in a nice strap from Levys ($30) then get one tiny little ding/chip next to the back cover (pictured) and here it is.
But nobody in their right mind would pay $1109 for this bass. Besides me, I mean. Because I did.
Well, it can be yours for only $600. It plays super well and sounds great (I even used it on my band's last release), but I finally had to admit to myself that I'm just not cut out to be a fretless player. My loss can be your gain!
Sold with no case or gig bag.
