Crate Blue Voodoo BV-120H (USA Made, Mid-1990s) Tube Head

The Blue Voodoo series has developed a cult following over the years, and for good reason. This is the same model series famously used by Marty Friedman during his Megadeth era, helping define some of the band’s signature guitar tones of the late 1990s.

This BV-120H is a 120-watt all-tube head built in the USA and delivers massive clean headroom, aggressive gain, onboard reverb, effects loop, and enough volume for virtually any stage.

Based on the serial number (BCJDM30004) and the blue-tolex cosmetics, this appears to be an early production example from approximately 1996–1997.

I’ve tested the amp and it is fully functional. The blue tolex and gold hardware give these early Blue Voodoo heads a distinctive look that stands out from the sea of black amplifiers.

Cosmetically, the amp shows normal wear for its age. There is a small hole in the tolex on the top of the cabinet (pictured), along with typical minor handling wear. Overall, it presents very well for a nearly 30-year-old tube head.
