Up for sale, a 2024 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Andy Hicks '51 "Nocaster" Telecaster in mint condition, complete with the original hardshell case, CoA, hangtags, and all case candy. The highest tier of Fender's Custom Shop, the Masterbuilt models are made by a singular master craftsman, in contrast to other "team built" Custom Shop tiers. This Nocaster was handcrafted by Andy Hicks.
This guitar commemorates the brief moment in history when Fender's first electric guitar had no model name on the headstock, as the original "Broadcaster" moniker was dropped and rebranded "Telecaster," but not before a number of instruments shipped with the headstocks left sans-model.
Featherweight at 6lbs 12oz, this Nocaster features a hand-selected two-piece ash body finished in "Nicotine Aged" Butterscotch Blonde paired with a roasted 5A birdseye maple neck that boasts a deep vintage-spec U neck profile carve and modern 9 1/2" fretboard radius with "vintage upgrade" 45085 medium fretwire. Lively, highly responsive to picking dynamics and exceedingly resonant, this Tele channels its ample natural acoustic properties through a pair of Fender's best Custom Shop pickups, hand-wound by Josefina Campos. The bridge pickup is pure twang and sparkle, and the highest treble frequencies have a smooth, bell-like response. With both pickups engaged, it's the perfect cutting rhythm sound that balances sinewy snap and low end fullness, and when the neck pickup is soloed, there's enough girth and roundness to really compliment lead work and overdriven textures. This Masterbuilt Telecaster has been freshly setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with slinky action, accurate intonation and 10-46 strings.
