I've been auditioning several pedals as a final gain stage / sculptor on my pedalboard, and this is definitely an eligible contender with the extra trick of having two selectable channels. Channels may be technically incorrect phrasing for this - but essentially you get gain 1 on the upper left knob and you can stomp to ADD the second gain (small knob) for more saturation. So - if you have gain 2 at minimum I think you get virtually no change - but as you increase Gain 2, it will stack onto your gain-1 sound. Effectively to me that is two channels - but given how they are 'connected' I wanted to be clear in case anyone took issue with the terminology.
I actually got this for guitar, knowing it's for bass - because the EQ treatment I wanted was pretty subtle (most bass pedals can still work with guitar in my experience) and it certainly does that well - but I was wanting a more aggressive distortion option in the pedal than what this one provides. That being said, I seriously appreciate the low gain and more textural approach of the pedal - it's fantastic for bass or sub octave sounds produced from my guitar and pedals and the amount of saturation is a very mature, responsible, professional level of grit - this is not going to impersonate a cranked vox or a plexi sound, it will just give you 'more' goodness. I love that about it, but it's just not what I was looking for. For some context, I landed on a more timmy-like pedal which sounded very similar but just gave me a bit more gain and grunt in the saturation, otherwise I'd be happy with the xotic here, and it looks really nice too. Thanks for checking it out - guitarist, don't be bashful - bassists, can't go wrong!
