For sale is a beautiful vintage 1980s Tama MasterCraft Steel Snare Drum, 6.5x14, Model 8056 with the Imperialstar badge and serial number 16300274.

These early MasterCraft steel snares are getting harder to find in clean, original condition — especially examples this well cared for. Perfect example of Tama's Japanese craftsmanship.

This drum is equipped with the original Tama 6035N long snare wires made specifically for the MasterCraft series and features all original hardware, including:

• Original lugs
• Original hoops
• Original tension rods
• Original throw off
• Original butt plate
• Original internal muffler

I have recently taken this whole snare apart and polished it back to glory. This snare sounds incredible — articulate, powerful, and extremely versatile. Well-maintained, it has the classic bright crack and sensitivity these MasterCraft steel drums are known for.

Cosmetically, the drum is in amazing condition for being over 40 years old. It has clearly been well-maintained throughout its life.

A little history on the drum:

I am the second owner. The original owner received this drum new in the 1980s as a birthday gift and has kept it with him ever since. Chrome has extremely slight pitting marks that are impossible to capture on camera.

This drum plays, sounds, and looks fantastic. I truly hate to let it go, but it’s time for it to find a new home where it will continue to be appreciated.

8-digit serial number places date of mfg in 1985/86.

In 1982-1984 the 6-digit serial numbers had the year followed by 4-digits (ie 82-XXXX).

6-digit serial was used from approx 1976-1981.
