Here we have a very fine example of a 1963 Gibson Les Paul SG Standard. This guitar is the last of many of the finest pieces I have ever seen from a huge vintage collector's estate. The guitar is 100% original and has been very well cared for and stored in a heat controlled and smoke free environment.

The guitar has 1 PAF humbucker in the neck position reading 7.5 Kohms and 1 PAT# decal in the bridge position reading 7.8 Kohms on the meter. Notice the solder joints have not been touched and the same goes for the control cavity pots and 3 way switch. The pots read 3046327 or the 27th. week of 1963.

I cleaned all the pots and switch when seasoned cleaned the fretboard and frets. Those original frets show only the very slightest of wear with no pitting. The gorgeous Brazilian rosewood fretboard shows the very slightest of wear in the first 4 frets. Next I installed a fresh set of Ernie Ball .10-.46 strings and she tuned right up with nice tight machine heads with non being bent. The guitar plays and sounds better than just about any guitar I have ever heard or played in my 51 years of selling guitars.

Cosmetically a very clean instrument for being 63 years old. It has some nicks and dings a few to the wood as usual up in the headstock area. Most of the serious blemishes show up in the pictures but really there is no real playing wear as this guitar was never played all that much. Also, I find it truly amazing that there is no laquer checking on this guitar with just a slight bit starting on the back of the headstock area. The nickel Maestro-ABR-1 bridge, pickup cover, metal parts, showing nice 'vibish' signs of age. SN# 120872.

Last but not least the neck-body common heel repair was done a few years back by my neighbor-friend of 50+ years 'master' luthier Mike Koontz of 'Koontz Guitar Repair'. GOOGLE him.

Mikey, my neighbor down the street like me from Ferndale, Michigan. Mike does major work-fret jobs-dressings-custom wiring, you name it for thee biggest name guitar players-bass players in the music industry business for many decades now. I simply refer to him as the BEST!

I have priced this guitar very fairly to sell. I was going to add a chunk but did not want to play that game. I will say this. This particular collector that I have been working with for the past 5 years, will not drop this price for about 6 months. When he does, it will not even be a 10% drop. Just sayin'.
