Built for tone from the ground up

Every material choice in the SH35 has been made with sonic performance at the forefront. The body features a flame maple top paired with maple back and sides — a combination prized for its outstanding tonal clarity, punch, and detail. Maple's natural brightness cuts through the inherent warmth of a semi-hollow design, producing a balanced voice that responds dynamically to how and where you play. The result is a guitar that sings with clarity on single notes and rings with complex, layered depth on chords.

Construction that elevates resonance and sustain

For maximum sonic impact, Washburn has fitted the SH35 with set-neck construction. Rather than the bolt-on approach common in many production guitars, the set neck physically bonds the neck to the body, enhancing the transfer of vibration between the two components. This translates directly into improved stability, richer resonance, and extended sustain — qualities that are especially noticeable on a semi-hollow instrument, where the body's natural acoustic properties are already amplified. Complementing this, the three-piece hard maple neck provides structural rigidity and a consistent feel across the full length of the instrument. A rosewood fretboard with split block inlays and a comfortable 14-inch radius gives the SH35 a playable, familiar feel that suits both rhythm playing and lead work across all 22 frets.

Rather than fitting off-the-shelf humbuckers, Washburn has developed specially-voiced chrome-covered humbuckers that are specifically optimized to work with the rich resonance of a semi-hollow body. An H/H pickup configuration — controlled by a 3-way toggle selector and individual volume and tone knobs for each pickup — gives players extensive control over their output. The pickups are voiced to complement the guitar's acoustic qualities rather than fight them, producing a sound that feels genuinely cohesive and musical. The SH35 ships strung with D'Addario EXL110s and is finished in a striking Tobacco Sunburst gloss on the body with a satin neck finish for playing comfort.
