- New Foam Inside Grille which has also been cleaned
- Works perfectly with a full frequency response
- Made in the USA during the early 1980s, later versions were made in Mexico and eventually overseas
- First variant/version of the SM63, as you can see the patent was still pending which is neat to see
For sale is a hard to find early 1980s Shure SM63 when it was still produced in the USA for a short period of time. The SM63 which was basically Shure's version of the 635A for use on stage, with a relatively lightweight build. Functionally, this SM63 is perfect and working to specifications with a full bodied sound as confirmed by some A-B testing with another mic of the same model.
This microphone was well taken care of and sounds excellent, I would not see any issue with it being used wherever you would put an EV 635A. The only caveats are some light signs of wear as pictured with no denting and nothing that impacts performance or usability.
If you are in the market for an omnidirectional dynamic mic, the Shure SM63 is worth a try!
