Up for sale, a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a Lifton-style hardshell case. An ideal example of a late ‘50s Double Cut Junior, this Les Paul features a hearty 1958-sized “baseball bat” neck carve and a P-90 that delivers a perfect balance of midrange bark and glassy detail, metering at 8.17k ohms.
With Honduran mahogany body/neck construction and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, this Junior is balanced, warm and lively acoustically, qualities which translate faithfully through the P-90. The pickup is bold and detailed, highly responsive to player inputs and excelling when plugged straight into a tube amp for overdriven roar when cranked and glassy cleans at lower volumes. Lightweight at 7lbs, this Les Paul Junior benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Cherry nitro lacquer finish is 100% original save for a small area forward of the treble-side bridge mounting post where the post had been previously repositioned (doweled and touched-up). The Cherry color is strong across the body, with some forearm and belly wear diffusing the color on the bass side and broad, wavy horizontal lacquer checking throughout. The body shows various dings and scuffs, largely on the body edges, and more concentrated on the bass-side lower bout, with a small area of very shallow buckle wear on the back bass-side edge. There is some chatter on the nitro gloss on the neck, largely central to the carve and worn smooth through play.
A vintage (non-original) Lifton-style brown hardshell case is included.
