This a 1912 Gibson A-1 Mandolin. The white label displays the serial number as 11681 in pencil. If you're looking for a "broken in" mandolin that has mojo and great resonance, this is the one. The original tuners have been replaced with StewMac Golden Age Restoration tuners. The original tuners are included in the sale. The original frets were leveled and polished early last year and the bridge was properly placed for intonation. It has the original pickguard and tail piece installed. At some point someone installed a side dot in the neck located at the 7th fret.
It has 3 separate cracks on the back that have been glued and are stable. Well worn edges and knicks and dings around the body. To be expected from a well loved instrument that is 114 years old. This mandolin came off the assembly line the same year the Titanic sank...
